Kate Atkinson's Life After Life is an interesting loop of reincarnation and the life altering choices seemingly small decisions make. Ursula Todd has consistently felt deja vu through every stage in her life. Even the psychiatrist her parents take her to is intrigued. In fact, it is he who introduces her to the concept of reincarnation. She is an old soul, dying at birth to be born again within the same life journey. Each time, she uses the knowledge from the time before to change choices and therefore alter the rest of her life from that point. Her lifespan sees the two World Wars and first hand evil that they bring. She is comfortable with the fact that it is not her second (or third or fourth for that matter) time to live her life. When she realizes that she can actually alter history, her plans might just end the cycle forever.

I have never read a book such as Life After Life by Kate Atkinson. At first, it was a little hard to grasp until I realized that my MP3 player was not shuffling, she was actually repeating her own history. Once I realized that, the book was very captivating, especially when I started realizing what she had done differently to end up where she did before starting again. This is a great audio book! My 45-minute commute was up before I knew it on every leg I drove. This would be a fantastic road trip book. Highly recommended!!
