Lily Granger is on the autism spectrum and is a vet for large animals. She knows she’s a lot to handle, and she’s made her peace with it. On a whim one Christmas, she decides to send handwritten letters to some men and women serving in the army to show appreciation and in the hopes of making some friends. None of her letters got a response—except one from Forest. Forest was in active service in Afghanistan when he received a random letter from a lady who seemed to write exactly what was on her mind with no filters. He found this refreshing, and they became pen pals for over two years without knowing what the other looked like. However, an incident while in the service causes Forest to rethink his relationship with Lily and pull away while he still can. Can these two still hope for a future together? Find out in this amazing romance novel, Lily’s Forest by Kat Baxter.

The first thing I loved about Lily’s Forest was its title; it’s a beautiful play on the protagonists’ names. I also loved the cover; it’s a very apt depiction of Forest. I enjoyed the humor, and I found Forest to be adorably grumpy. As soon as I started reading, I kept despairing at its length; it was too short. I didn’t want the story to end and could have enjoyed a hundred more pages. I loved reading their letters; I thought they were incredibly romantic. I liked how there were allusions to the stories of the secondary characters; for example, Lily’s sister, Emmy, and Forest’s cousin, Lincoln. I was delighted to see that they each had their own books; I’ll definitely check them out. Overall, Lily’s Forest by Kat Baxter was a beautiful read, and I can’t wait to read more of her works.
