Living Green and the Lake by Florian Bushy is a story about the importance of having trees around a body of water and why water conservation is essential. Many years ago, Mr. Florian, a small tree, and Mrs. Florence, a little flower, enjoyed their days on the newly born planet Earth with the other plants. One day, the two were taking a walk when they looked up and realized there were no clouds in the sky. The heat was scorching, and they needed to find water immediately. They decided to walk to the only source of water they could think of - the lake. Other plants join them in their quest. The plants discovered that the water was evaporating at a rapid pace. They worked together by shielding the lake from the sun and creating a barrier around it to protect the water.

I loved reading Living Green and the Lake because of the extensive knowledge it provides about the importance of conserving water. Florian Bushy did a remarkable job of relating a simple yet impactful story that can easily be understood. I loved the cute little characters. Mr. Florian and Mrs. Florence are lovely and intelligent. They devised a sound solution and acted fast to preserve the remaining water. I also loved the illustrations, as they tell the story perfectly and show all the characters' emotions very well. I sympathized with the trees and plants and their plight. The message the author conveys is awesome and relevant to both our generation and future generations. We all need to work together to preserve the water we have on our home, planet Earth.
