Author Biography

A life long dog enthusiast, Jeanie Cunningham is an American singer/songwriter who's performed on and offstage with such greats as Lionel Richie and David Crosby, has 7 internationally released CDs and her voice and songwriting skills have been utilized by such companies as Toshiba, Epson, Chevron and Hewlett Packard--to name a few. That's just her "professional" side. Since infancy, she's also shared her life, home, bed and occasional meals with "canine pals" and along the way, has mentored and taught human children life lessons and ukulele skills.
Xena and Oscar, two of the very special companions who have blessed Jeanie's life (along with their best friend, Oso) inspired Jeanie to combine her passions for music, story telling and teaching to create the "Los Diggities" series of stories. It is her fondest wish to raise awareness of the need to adopt homeless animals by bringing their stories and personalities to kids of ALL age through the lessons taught by Xena, Oscar and Oso.

Los Diggities: Silly Diggities, Silly Names is a fiction audiobook for children written by Jeanie Cunningham and Elisabeth Thormodsrud, and narrated by Jeanie Cunningham. Xena, Oscar and Oso are Jeannie's rescue dogs, and they have a marvelous life lounging outdoors by the pool. They love Jeannie, but sometimes she gets a bit over-the-top with her nicknames and goofy songs about them. Oso got dubbed hairy Bellyfonty after a Calypso singer named Harry Belafonte, and Xena got Bo-Beans and Meemer from the old Name Game song. Oscar, however, thinks he’s got the worst nickname of all: Wigglebutt. It’s not his fault, after all, that his back end gets involved when he wags his stubby little tail for joy. But what’s a dog to do? Jeannie loves them and gives them good things to eat, even if she does break out into goofy songs and call them silly names. It’s just Jeanie being Jeanie.

Jeanie Cunningham's and Elisabeth Thormodsrud’s animal audiobook for children, Los Diggities: Silly Diggities, Silly Names, is an entertaining and heartwarming tale narrated by Jeanie and her three rescue dogs. Xena, Oscar and Oso discuss what being rescued means and how everything changed when Jeanie came into their lives. Underneath the bantering and teasing they subject each other to is an implicit understanding that the three of them, and Jeanie, are family. Even if she embarrasses them, as parents often do to their kids, it’s out of love. This audiobook is bright, lively and sure to evoke giggles and sing-alongs from young audiences. They will also learn that, while nicknames can hurt if used in a mean-spirited way, those given by those who love us are often simply expressions of affection. Cunningham’s talents as a singer, songwriter and narrator are also admirably showcased in Los Diggities: Silly Diggities, Silly Names. It’s highly recommended.
