Love Denied by Margaret Lynette Sharp is an enchanting romance story about a piano teacher who believed that love had passed her by. At the age of thirty-one, Elizabeth is still single and living at home with her aging parents. She isn't single because no one has asked her to marry them. On the contrary, although she loved Tom, she had turned him down because she was engaged to William. Tom left Australia and went to Scotland to work with his uncle. William, who had been at war, came home a changed and scarred man. Elizabeth knew that she couldn't live with him and broke off the engagement. Although she is happy teaching piano, the years pass her by. A new student begins taking lessons from Elizabeth. Her recently widowed father is interested in Elizabeth. She is flattered and returns his interest. Now all these years later, Elizabeth unexpectedly hears from Tom. Her mother is not thrilled with either of her prospects and is making Elizabeth miserable. Elizabeth is ready to move on, but to do so, she has to make some choices.

Love Denied by Margaret Lynette Sharp is a moving romance novel about lost love. The imagery written in the first few paragraphs is enchanting and gives the reader insight into Elizabeth's soul. This is a wonderful story about love and redemption. It shows that just when you think life has passed you by, a whole new dimension opens up to you. I was amazed that Elizabeth had the courage to make any life decisions after being under her parents' thumb for so many years. Even though love had been denied her, she got a second chance. The beauty of the story touched my soul. I recommend this novel to readers who love a good romance and stories about second chances.
