Author Biography

"Magelica Book Series Brings magic to life for girls and boys: she's just getting started!" - Jone Bosworth-

"With the Magelica book series, my own beliefs, courage, determination have been tested over and over. Believing I can, has kept me going! My dream is for young girls to be empowered to grow up strong, positive and powerful, and for young boys to have the self-confidence to support girls in their goals, thereby creating a new gender balance for a new generation.

"Magelica's Voyage is inspired by my life, my family, and the special people and places I love", says Courey Nadeau. "All of the characters in the story, including Magelica are reflections of the person I am- the wacky part, the funny part, the philosopher, the teacher, the caretaker, the chosen mom, the giver, and of course the dreamer. What would Magelica do, I often ask, and I get the answer. When you fly with Magelica, the possibilities are endless and there is magic all around."

Magelica’s Voyage to the Land of the Fairies by Louise Courey Nadeau is the magical story of Magelica who is born out of a sapphire colored egg. She has never met her parents, but has a mother, Gri, who watches over her and raises her. Magelica is half-fairy and half-human and now she has to undertake a journey to the Land of the Fairies through the portal in the forest. Gri bids Magelica goodbye as she goes with her friends, Prince Will and Odin. The whimsical journey of the three friends takes readers through exciting adventures and magical creatures as Magelica tries to find out the identity of her parents and her real identity.

The story has some good messages for young readers which are uplifting and encouraging, and will enable children to look at everything with a different perspective. The author brings out the creativity in the minds of readers and will make them dream and imagine things they otherwise would not think about. The underlying messages of love and trust have been woven into the plot with expertise, along with the concepts of positivity, an attitude of gratitude, and believing in oneself.

The writing style is fluid and that gives a good pace and movement to the story. The illustrations are equally enchanting, like the characters, and they breathe life into the characters and the scenes. It is an excellent bedtime storybook and can be used for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. It is a book worth reading and having in one’s personal collection because, apart from the enchantment it gives, the messages are motivating and give courage and hope to children to face today’s world.

Magelica’s Voyage to the Land of the Fairies: Magelica’s Voyage Trilogy, Book 3, is a fairy tale book for children written by Louise Courey Nadeau and illustrated by Nathan Heinze. Magelica was enjoying a warm summer evening with her mom, Gri, when suddenly she saw two rainbows that twisted and swirled as they reached for the earth. Then she saw her friend, Prince Will, and his goldaron, Goldy. Odin was there as well. They had exciting news for Magelica -- she was invited to visit the Land of the Fairies to find out about her mother and father. Magelica had long wondered about them. While she loved Gri, her human mother, she was still curious about her own parents and the fact that she was hatched from a sapphire egg, unlike the human children she knew. She wanted to learn more about who she was. Prince Will had a special ring that would help them reach the Land of the Fairies. It led them deep into the woods to a magnificent circle of light -- but they couldn’t seem to enter it. It would take the most heartfelt and positive thoughts for them to be granted access through the gate.

Louise Courey Nadeau’s fairy tale book for children, Magelica’s Voyage to the Land of the Fairies, is an enchanting and magical story about a half-human/half-fairy girl who is given the opportunity to find out about her fairy origins. While this is the third book in the Magelica’s Voyage Trilogy, Nadeau’s presentation of the tale allows it to be read as a stand-alone book. Nathan Heinze’s illustrations are masterful; they’re filled with details and brightly colored, and they add a light touch of whimsy to the story. I particularly enjoyed the story within a story effect when the council of fairies allows Magelica to watch her mother’s story unfold in the green pool. Magelica’s Voyage to the Land of the Fairies: Magelica’s Voyage Trilogy, Book 3 is a grand choice for story time and is suitable for more advanced young readers. It’s most highly recommended.
