Manage My Emotions: What I Wish I'd Learned in School about Anger, Fear, and Love by Kenneth Martz is a book on managing emotions and not letting them rule our lives. The book offers an insight into how our emotions can play with our lives and how we can gain back control if we pay attention. The author explains what emotions are, the process of emotional change, how we can manage our emotions, and how they affect almost every aspect of our life. The author eloquently describes our emotions and how we can easily balance them so that they don’t become a hindrance to our social and personal life. With just a little bit of conscious emotional management, we can take back control and live our lives to the fullest.

Manage My Emotions is an educational and very positive self-help book. I am amazed at the way the author explains emotions in such an uncomplicated yet easy to digest fashion. Dr. Kenneth Martz presents a clear, concise, and impressive theory that is useful for readers. From getting a better grip on our emotions in any given situation to understanding how our emotions affect our daily lives, the author not only gives us the information to gain control but also motivates readers to anticipate the change. The exercises he suggests are doable in a real-life scenario and not impossible. He arms readers with simple tools like keeping a journal for mental clarity, physical exercise to avert anger, and breathing exercises to manage our overwhelming emotions. This book promises a clear and happy mind, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to achieve it.

Manage My Emotions: What I Wish I'd Learned in School about Anger, Fear and Love by Dr. Kenneth Martz is a book written by a professional. Dr. Martz is a qualified psychologist with 25 years’ experience. Indeed, as Dr. Martz shares his experience in the book, the breadth, and depth of his experience in managing emotion come through clearly. It is demonstrated in the 4-part discussion on emotion: (1) Introduction to Emotion, (2) The Changing Process, (3) Managing Specific Emotions, and (4) Emotions Applications. There are many questions that help readers to understand and reflect on their emotions. There are also exercises that enable readers to actually feel their emotions. The book is well written, and the content is presented rationally (and not emotionally)!

How much better life will be if we can manage our emotions so that we become masters of and not slaves to our emotions. Manage My Emotions by Dr. Kenneth Martz definitely helps readers to become masters of their emotions. There are many suggestions throughout the book on how we can manage our emotions. I particularly like the suggestion that we should live with an awareness of our emotions and not on autopilot as awareness alone in healing. The book also shares many tools which we can use to cope with our emotions. For example, to cope with anger, there are tools such as breathing, identifying the underlying beliefs/expectations, physical exercise, and journaling. To top it off, the book doesn’t just discuss the applications of emotions in motivation, communication, relationships, and the workplace, but also in politics – what a pleasant surprise! A highly recommended read for those who are looking for ways to manage their emotions better!

Manage My Emotions: What I Wish I'd Learned in School about Anger, Fear and Love by Dr. Kenneth Martz is a non-fiction self-help guide that outlines the author's experiences and lessons learned during times of duress, putting all his cards on the table so that others may benefit as well. Broken down into four distinct parts and twenty-six chapters, Dr. Martz covers a wide range of cause and effect in their many facets and how, as humans, this can be consuming and hold us back from being our best selves. In addressing this, Dr. Martz offers his clinical expertise and provides the psychology of emotions alongside their physical manifestations, change and its process, the management of specific emotions, and their application to our daily and work lives, as well as our relationships.

Manage My Emotions is, frankly, exactly the book I needed as I wade through the isolation and personal slump that a worldwide pandemic has forced on us. Naturally, a book takes a while to write, or more appropriately to write well, but the timing of Dr. Kenneth Martz's work could not be better. He does an excellent job of making a multi-faceted subject with a heavy reliance on science, nature, and nurture relatable to the layperson. I enjoyed the anecdotal stories and the section on compassion and the tools to work with it. I have long wanted to incorporate yoga into my life and genuinely did set the book down to allow myself the time to relax in the Mountain Pose, which resulted in a release that I find incredibly difficult to describe but washed over me in the most profound way. This is an easy book for me to recommend highly and I believe it will resonate with many other readers.
