In Mastering the Art of Stress, Sophia Elan discusses poor health decisions and why we may make them. After processing her traumas, she developed the "K.I.S.S." ("Keep It Simple, Sweetheart") philosophy, which helps her manage stress without the use of medicines. Told in two parts, Elan defines stress and the way it is killing people, giving detailed descriptions regarding the body and the way it responds to stress. In the second section, the author explains her vision of the solution, touching on oxytocin, vitamins, and herbs, and mentions the importance of the vagus nerve, raising a call to action for an improved way of life.

With the approach of a lawyer and the education and research of her master's degree in natural health, Sophia Elan makes the case for a healthier lifestyle. In a world that seems pressure-filled and chaotic, Elan gives her readers the information they need to process the ill effects of prolonged stress. Elan empowers others with the knowledge of the conditions stress may cause in their lives that may be eliminated with simple acts like hugging, focused massage, diet, and meditation. The author outlines a better way to look at the relationship between the mind and body while developing more positive thoughts, self-talk, and connections. Elan's conversational approach is easy to read as she relates her experiences to readers who may have had similar experiences, encouraging and inspiring them. Mastering the Art of Stress is a good selection for readers wanting to learn the best way to manage their stress without medical interventions.

Transformative

An enlightening and empowering read. Elan makes a compelling case for addressing stress for optimal mental and physical well-being. The book is well-researched and engaging and highlights the psychological and physiological consequences of stress, including weight challenges, insomnia, and mood and digestive disorders. Elan masterfully distills complex topics and provides simple recommendations to positively transform your life. As Elan implores, stress less, live more. I highly recommend this book and Elan’s “KISS”, keep it simple, sweetheart approach.
