Me & My Shadow is a psychological drama novel by Deborah Stone. Rachel never had a good life. Ever since childhood, she had to constantly compete with her younger sister for the love and attention of their parents, and Rachel lost every time. She only craves the love and attention denied to her as a child. As an adult, she skips from one romantic relationship to the next. Wounded and betrayed by each relationship, Rachel spirals into a very dark place. And when she finally claws her way out of the hole, will she be able to find the 'normal' life she always wanted, or will her paranoia get the better of her yet again?

Me & My Shadow is Deborah Stone’s second novel. I enjoyed Stone’s writing style as the plot kept me guessing the fate of the protagonist until the very end. Despite the speculation, I was taken aback by the surprising revelation at the end. The narrative flows in the form of a conversation between Rachel and her psychologist, Dr. Blake, and, therefore, provides an in-depth view of Rachel's personality and psyche. Stone provides a detailed picture of Rachel through the conversation, but the other characters in the story seem to lack depth. However, the good storyline diverts attention from any flaws. I would recommend this book for its brilliant plot. Me & My Shadow is a wonderful psychological drama that does not reveal its secrets until the very end.
