Mozerika: The First Journey is a fantasy adventure novel by David Serra. The story follows Andrew, a young man who shows no interest in his father’s paleontology work and discoveries. One day, this changes when his father discovers a fossil that looks like a decaying baseball bat. Andrew's father thinks this is the breakthrough he has been searching for. The fossil sparks Andrew's curiosity, and he is surprised when a mysterious ball is dislodged from the fossil. The ball has engravings of words and dinosaur drawings. Andrew tells his father about the ball, but when his father leaves the room to get a friend's opinion about the strange fossil, it vibrates and glows brightly in Andrew's hands. This makes Andrew feel unusual, and before he knows it, he and the ball dematerialize from the room. Andrew is teleported to the magical land of Mozerika, where dinosaurs live, go to school, and speak English.

Mozerika will take you on a wild adventure and teach you about different types of dinosaurs. It is equally entertaining and informative. Andrew trying to keep a calm demeanor when surrounded by prehistoric creatures acting like normal school kids was comical. The scenes where he plays hide and seek and helps one of the animals with astronomy are adorable. David Serra is a creative writer who showcases his talent in this unique tale. The writing was engaging and easy to understand. Serra perfectly describes every dinosaur he introduces and gives them cute names. I wish the book contained illustrations to correspond with the story. Despite this, I loved reading it and hope to read more from this author. Great work.
