Sydney Lockhart is a PI and, along with a zany cast of characters, is determined to solve a murder in Murder at the Menger by Kathleen Kaska. Sydney goes to the famous Menger Hotel in San Antonio, trailing Johnny Pine. She soon finds him dead and her adventure begins. Johnny’s girlfriend Nora fills Sydney in on all the facts needed to both solve and confuse the case. She leads Sydney on several merry chases where even more dead bodies are discovered. Since Sydney has found each of the dead people, she quickly becomes the prime suspect, causing her to work even harder. Taco the taxi driver, Rip the bouncer, and cousin Ruth soon become involved in helping Sydney find the real killer. Sydney gets involved in horse race-fixing, crooked bookies, her car being stolen, kidnapping and so much more before finally finding the answers.

Murder at the Menger by Kathleen Kaska is an old-fashioned murder mystery that takes you back in time to 1953. Murder at the Menger has a lot going on and it takes the reader into several different plot situations with never a dull moment. It is impossible not to root for Sydney and her tag-along crew as they leap into trouble at every corner. Murder at the Menger has an old movie or television feel but with modern-day twisting and turning. Kathleen Kaska has a real knack for creating a murder mystery that still has room for funny, likable characters with a storyline that will keep you entertained until the unexpected ending.
