My Friend Breath by Meg Gillespie and Kelsey Corey introduces readers to Ash, who discovers that his breath is his best friend. It is with him at all times and can help change the way he feels and responds to any given situation. The young boy shares important information about the emotions he experiences, how he deals with the good ones, and how to calm the bad ones. Emotions are a natural part of life for children and grown-ups, as is breathing. Ash uses specific breathing patterns to help him through emotional problems that make him feel bad. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, you can calm your mind with simple breathing exercises.

My Friend Breath by Meg Gillespie and Kelsey Corey explains the different techniques of controlled breathing that help him calm down and feel better. The illustrations by Lena Bardy are beautiful images that will keep children focused on the story as they follow along. I love the message that teaches children about the importance of each emotion and how to keep bad feelings from overwhelming them by using breathing exercises. One of the best things about this book is the breathing guide at the end that breaks down each technique into easy-to-understand steps. I recommend this story to young children, especially those that may need a little help with emotional growth and development.
