Author Biography

Hello! I'm the author of NEW DIGS...

Born and raised in Rochester, Minnesota, I currently reside in Mantorville, Minnesota, a quaint little town listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with my husband Mitch and our adopted toy poodle, Charlie. Fifth of seven children, and the only girl on my father's side, I was named Pamella after my paternal grandmother, Ella, who rushed out to buy her namesake's first dress upon hearing she finally had a granddaughter. The story is told that Grandma Ella was sick before I was born but all thought she willed herself on to see if she would "get her girl." She did and was able to enjoy six short months with me.

No stranger to good times and equally familiar with the most difficult of challenges, in my book, NEW DIGS... I share the startling shifts in outlook and method that freed me from years of toxic rancor. Classic advice is reshaped into clear and logical guidance, at last addressing the often thorny and confusing topic of forgiveness in a cordial, practical and hopeful way.

Users of this color illustrated workbook will travel a one-of-a-kind journey through the stages of recovering a compassionate spirit. As the reviewer, Anne, mentions below, readers will visit six picturesque locales as they pause to work through the meaningful but brightly sketched phases of reclaiming a merciful heart.

Although writing has been my passion for many years, this is my first book. Thank you for visiting my Readers Favorite page.

While scripture tells us to forgive and forget, it isn’t easy. There are some hurts that just aren’t that easy to get over. Unfortunately, when we hang on to them, we only hurt ourselves. Anger can take over our lives preventing us from finding the true joy of each day. Anger can affect our health, our work, our sleep, our relationships, and our attitudes.

Romans reminds us to love our enemies. It is easy to love those who love us but a lot harder to love our enemies. It does not say forgive those who ask forgiveness. It does say if our enemies are hungry we should feed them. This is a totally different concept than most of us live. It is only through God that we can forgive. To forgive doesn’t necessarily mean to pretend something never happened. It means to deal with it. The victim and the offender may never have a relationship again. Forgiveness should mean moving closer to God and allowing Him to meet the needs of both parties.

NEW DIGS...Abandoning The Bog of Bitterness by Pamella Ann Miller is a workbook to help readers deal with bitterness. There are 6 phases discussed in this book. Miller has humorously and creatively named these phases: Swamp City, Hiatus Township, Uncertainty Village, Prideful Palisades, Cape Horizon, and Renewal Island. One of my favorite things in this book is the author’s interpretation of the Lord’s Prayer. NEW DIGS is written in a simple, easy-to-understand, and interesting manner. The book’s cover is creatively done and tempts the reader to pick it up and delve inside. This book could be used as a small group study or an individual study.

This book really showed me the Heart of God in forgiving us - for we all have hurt Him so very deeply. Pamela has really captured the Soul of God in choosing to forgive and re-engage instead of wallow in any of the many 'bogs' we could choose to get stuck in.

Great book and tool for recovering hope and love after deep hurt.
