Author Biography

John "O.G. Fox" Campos writes under the pen name of "The 2-Bru Krew", in honor of his late brother Duane "Mr. Bear" Campos, as we are "Brus" and equal partners in all artistic endeavors. The inspiration of "Old San Antone: Dawn of the Legend" and all of its sequels comes from “The Code”. And what code is that, you ask? “The Code of Honor” of a man, that’s been nearly all but forgotten in this modern era, except to a few who still live by its set of unwritten rules. Rules where a man keeps his word. Where loyalty, trust, and friendship are bonds that cannot be broken. Where a man finishes what he sets out to do, even if it costs him his life. And where courage and valor are not just words written in poetry books; but are the morals and foundations by which a man lives by, and when need be, dies by.

I am a dedicated devotee to history, particularly the Old West. So, my novels are historically-accurate, from the description, setting, timeframe, attire, cuisine, and weaponry, to the colorfully unorthodox language and vernacular that was used during the post-Civil War Reconstruction Era of the Wild West. The end result is a novel that is so authentic that every page transports the reader back to 1867 in Texas, where they can experience life during that challenging time first-hand for themselves, with tales teeming with action and the ideals of Honor, Brotherhood, Justice, and Humanity.

Old San Antone: Dawn of the Legend is an action-packed novel set in the West in years gone by. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience as it contains scenes of violence and explicit language throughout. Penned by The 2-Bru Krew, this exciting and highly atmospheric Western pays homage to a time and place when the law and the lawless often clashed. We follow the exploits of Texas Ranger Captain Hondo Stone in the wildest of times as he stays true to his sense of justice whilst those around him engage in a spree of organized crime, corruption, and blood lust.

What an exciting and highly involved Western The 2-Bru Krew has created. Where most novels feel like a single movie playing out, this saga was more like a great television series, with episodes of action and intrigue weaving in and out of different storylines until it all built up to an epic finale. One of the things I loved most about it was the authors’ clear commitment to detail, particularly in the attitudes and approach of the characters to their daily tasks. It was so refreshing to read a blunt and gritty account of how people behaved in those days. The tough calls that Hondo had to make for the sake of doing what was right were really interesting to explore. Old San Antone: Dawn of the Legend is a highly accomplished, well-researched, and lovingly penned tribute to the taming of a wild and lawless age, and I highly recommend it to Western fans everywhere.
