Bryson loved baseball since he was very young. He shared information about his favorite players and his excitement for the sport influenced all of his activities during the day. Whether he was at school, at home, or anywhere, his world revolved around baseball. As soon as he was old enough, he joined a team so that he could play. As he had never practiced before, he did not get the desired results at once. This is completely normal, and can happen to us when we try something new. The important thing is our attitude after a negative experience. With the way Bryson acts, we have a great example to follow. In One Good Hit, Rachelle Jones Smith teaches a valuable lesson to all her readers.

One Good Hit teaches the true spirit of the game. It provides a life lesson that goes beyond sports, because conflicting experiences can also occur at school when wanting to learn to play a musical instrument, or with any other activity. In life, there will always be obstacles and events that are more difficult than expected. By resolving these situations we gain experience and that is how we mature as individuals. This is why the message of the book is so significant to me. Rachelle Jones Smith does well in giving children advice that works for them every time. This is a book that invites reflection, stimulates reading comprehension, and is filled with colorful images, presenting us with an enjoyable story.
