In One Last Dance: A Willow Valley Historical Romance by Linda Weaver Clarke, Felicity Brooks is an art teacher (and a watercolor artist) in an all-girl school in New York, a job and life she dearly loved, but after the death of her beloved father, she returns home to help care for her mother who is beside herself at the loss of her loving, kind husband. Martha Brooks now finds great comfort in her two daughters and is eager to match-make for the single 23-year-old Felicity. When Felicity arrives home, she finds her mother has made a new friend in a neighbor, Nicholas Adams, who, without her knowing, is on a special police mission. Nicholas soon finds his original idea of what a schoolmistress and spinster would look like very different from the truth of the woman now standing before him as they meet for the first time on her mother’s doorstep. Together they find love and the truth behind a mysterious string of burglaries.
