Author Biography

Being a child of divorce, I have experienced both sides of the American Family. I understand there is a loss to the family unit, that no longer has a father in it. In the face of that loss, I discovered a woman can rise to the occasion and not replace a man but offer her own strength, moral compass and guidance. In this environment a child can grow up feeling loved, accepted and ultimately successful in life.

Those experiences in my formative years have made me more aware of the women around me and the daily feats of resourcefulness and ingenuity that goes unnoticed and unacknowledged by society. My stories highlight societal issues and the ever-changing challenges women face that I've observed during my life.

Only a Woman Could... and She Did: Career Tools for Women from the Bible by Chad Bishop takes inspiration from the strength of character displayed by various women in the Bible to give examples to modern day women about how they too can embrace their own strength and make their lives richer in all aspects.

The first lesson is taken from the courage of the Canaanite woman who dared to speak up and be heard by Jesus in the face of opposition. The second example is about taking up opportunities that are right for you and owning your past without cringing and allowing it to pull you down. Use it as a learning experience and move ahead. Similarly, the woman with the issue of blood for twelve years teaches us to think out of the box and pursue ideas and solutions that are out of the box, no matter how absurd or unconventional they might be. Lastly, the story of Lazarus is another fine example of a woman saving the day. Martha's belief that Jesus could perform miracles, and her boldness in holding him accountable without assuming that the result would be negative, teaches us to speak up and make people responsible for their part by holding them accountable for their actions.

Only a Woman Could... and She Did: Career Tools for Women from the Bible by Chad Bishop is a lovely book that has many lessons for the modern woman derived from the ancient wisdom of the Bible. It is only when you focus on the in-depth meaning, and interpret the verses from a fresh perspective, that you learn how across the ages women have been strong beacons of light and wisdom and we can learn so much from each other. Definitely a book I will keep rereading whenever I need a fresh perspective.
