Zoey Kinsman gives us a vivid picture of the blossoming love life of Anne Sullivan and Paul Wickham. Anne is a middle-aged, successful businesswoman with insecurities and a past abusive relationship. Paul is a young man beginning his career as an actor. Both are in different stages of their lives, but there is no denying the connection they feel when they are together. Making their relationship work will take a lot of trusting each other as well as themselves; plus, making the changes needed in their work schedules to allow the time needed to cultivate this new love. Only Good With You takes you through the rough times as these two discover each other and test their emotional limits. It is a scary time for both of them as they open up their hearts and allow themselves to be vulnerable. This becomes more obvious as a previous girlfriend tries to reenter the relationship.

I found Only Good With You quite descriptive in some scenes, which would make this more of an adult novel. Zoey Kinsman keeps Anne and Paul's relationship in question, but she allows them to work out their anxieties and continue to bond. The author does an excellent job illustrating the work it takes to enter a relationship and the patience, trust, and understanding to continue what was started. Zoey Kinsman writes about a unique way to purge past hurts and regrets from a relationship that not only worked for this couple, but I could see other couples using this to start anew and building from that point. Unconditional love is uncommon, but the author demonstrates this through her characters.
