Let's meet Oscar the adventurous pig in the story Oscar Piggy: When Pigs Can Fly by Christina Fasolino. Oscar loved to roll in muddy puddles, dance, and play with his friends. He made friends with his wiggly giggly dance and he loved trying new things. There was one thing Oscar did not like - he did not like being told he wasn't able to do something. On a bright and beautiful day, Oscar went to the lake to swim with his friends. His friends were in the water having a good time and just when Oscar was about to jump into the water, Dalilah Duck reminded him that he could not swim and he could not get into the water. She embarrassed him by saying pigs could not swim, they could only fly. Oscar was sad and the next day he decided to go to the meadow and sing so that he would feel better. Oscar's singing frightened Bell the Cow and she said pigs could not sing because their snouts got in the way and pigs could only fly. That night Oscar Piggy was so upset that he cried and tears rolled down his face. The next day he met Darrell Dog who sat down next to him and gave him good advice. What did Darrell Dog tell Oscar Piggy and how did it help him?

Oscar Piggy: When Pigs Can Fly by Christina Fasolino is an adorable story and will boost the confidence level of young readers, encourage them to be fearless, and make them believe that they have the ability to anything they put their minds to. Oscar Piggy's story is about self-confidence and getting rid of self-doubt, and the wonderful illustrations give clarity to the concept and breathe life into the characters and the scenes. Oscar Piggy's character portrayal is real, relatable, and memorable and gives some excellent messages to readers. The book is a good one to use for storytelling and read-aloud sessions in homes and schools to encourage children to have confidence in themselves and face challenges without any self-doubt.
