Rob Sudano has had a passion for art since winning a first place award in a poster contest for the environment as a child (he may even have saved the poster and award ribbon). Later on in life, he realized this was more than a passion, but rather a calling that could no longer be ignored.
He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Edinboro while raising two amazing daughters. Rob always loved reading and especially reading stories to his little girls.
He began writing short stories about a cute, sad, little owl that soon became an obsession. He was hooked by the challenge of rhyming, to make it fun and lively, and telling a story children could relate to and learn from at the same time!
After piling up sixteen stories, Rob decided it was time to share them and began the illustration process. This finally allowed him to combine his love of drawing and writing fun stories!

In Owl B. Blue on Valentine’s Day by Rob Sudano, a lonely owl named Owl B. Blue sits in a snowy tree, wishing for a friend. On Valentine's Day, he discovers a pink feather on his head, prompting him to bravely climb the tree against the wind. To his surprise, he finds Owl B. Pink, a beautiful owl. Despite initial speechlessness, they connect, and Owl B. Blue's loneliness fades. The two owls hoot together, marking the end of solitude and the start of a newfound friendship. Owl B. Blue's journey from the cold tree to the discovery of the pink feather highlights the essence of seeking companionship, and the encounter with Owl B. Pink brings warmth to his heart, ending the tale on a harmonious note.
Owl B. Blue on Valentine’s Day stands out with both an engaging narrative and the universal theme of friendship. Author and illustrator Rob Sudano uses simple yet expressive language, coupled with a rhythmic flow, to make the story accessible and enjoyable even for the youngest readers. While reading, I saw sparks of curiosity and wonder from my own child, and she understood the heartwarming message of connection and acceptance. Sudano's use of a bold primary color scheme and coordinating the graphics with small black-and-white sketches will hold the attention of readers and listeners of any age. Overall, this is a great read for children that promotes the values of resilience, bravery, and the joy of forming meaningful relationships. Very highly recommended.
