Pardon Me, Please by Lois Wickstrom is an unusual and heart-warming picture book for young children. Albert the turkey is feeling nervous. It’s Thanksgiving and he knows exactly what the humans are planning. A family approach Albert and the mom takes out her purse. This could only mean one thing for Albert - they were going to buy him and eat him. As the mom pays for Albert, the president appears on the television screen in the turkey store. He speaks of pardoning his turkey, leading the youngest girl in the family to question his meaning. Once it is explained to her, the girl asks if they can pardon Albert, which leads to a family vote. Albert desperately tries to look as friendly and cute as possible, hoping to sway their decision. Will Albert be saved from being the family’s Thanksgiving dinner and if so, what will happen to him?

Pardon Me, Please is another one of Lois Wickstrom’s masterpieces. She is an incredible author with a broad imagination. I have had the pleasure of reading other stories by Lois and this one is my new favorite. I loved the storyline as it warms the reader's heart from the very first page. Albert’s personality is vivid and well-written enough to allow you to imagine what he’d be like in real life. This makes the reading experience even more enjoyable. The illustrations by the talented Nicolas Milano are eye-catching and of a high standard. Children are going to love them. Keep writing, Lois. I love reading your stories.
