Perfectly Imperfect! A Journey of Healing and Breaking Generational Trauma by K. P. Summers discusses how the socializing forces of education from the family/home and school, religion, media, and culture perpetuate from one generation to another the traumatic oppression, inequality, discrimination, and harmful stereotypes and behavior they experience. The author goes beyond her analysis and uses it to heal and free herself from her visible and invisible traumas. She gives tools to help one survive, manage, and cope with the damage that can deeply affect every aspect of one's life and behavior, from personal and work relationships to career decisions and financial matters. Her example demonstrates that hope is not lost and that healing from past wounds is liberating. Being released from the constraints of the past is like turning over a new leaf that looks forward to fresher, more positive outcomes and a healthy start toward genuine happiness and satisfaction.

Perfectly Imperfect! by K. P. Summers deconstructs the oppressive factors that put down and damage women of color, more specifically African American women, and reclaims the liberating opportunities and aspects available to them to help cope with the hardships of life and deal with the bias of society. She talks about the subordination, exploitation, and oppression of women as a gender, which varies in kind and degree but cuts across class, race, creed, and nationality. It is an ideological, structural, and even global question of who women are, what they deserve, and how they should receive treatment. The author also encourages empathy, understanding, and a sense of sisterhood with women who undergo the same immature or unhealthy and repetitive socialized behavior and see through its familiar or common negative generational impact. This book is recommended for readers who believe the only real way of living a healthy, happy, and fulfilling life is to heal, positively change and adopt options that free us from the chains of a traumatizing past to help us flourish and be better persons.
