Author Dustin Renz deals with a major issue found in the church and Christianity today in Pile of Masks: Exposing Christian Hypocrisy. This is a subject that needs to be broached, yet many are fearful of dealing with the hypocrisy that people find themselves living because of the negative feedback. There is much-needed historical information given as to how hypocrisy has been a part of Christianity for thousands of years and how still today it is an issue that must be addressed. The book is broken down into three main sections allowing the reader to create an understandable definition, how to identify hypocrisy, and - probably the purpose of reading the book - how to overcome hypocrisy found in their own life.

Dustin Renz deals with his own issues of how he wore a mask for many years, trying to be the best person he could be in public, yet facing his own demons and many times giving in to them. There are many scriptures used to help the reader to have a biblical reference and a way to do deeper study if they choose. This would be a tremendous book used for churches and leadership/staff training. It could also be a fantastic resource in biblical counseling to show how people can find the strength to become who God desires for them to become, rather than to give in to the frustrations of life. Pile of Masks is definitely a 5-star book as it deals honestly with a much-needed topic that should be addressed in churches all across America.
