Robert E Kreig was born in Newcastle, Australia and grew up in its outer suburbs.
He has always had a love for books, particularly well-told stories involving action, adventure and fear.
Some of Robert's favourite authors as a young reader included J. R. R. Tolkien, Stephen King, Orson Scott Card, Ray Bradbury and Frank Herbert. As he grew into adulthood, the list continued to lengthen, adding more influential writers such as George R. R. Martin, Matthew Reilly, Nathan M. Farrugia, Dan Brown, James Patterson, Michael Connelly and Lee Child just to name a few.
Inspired by movies like Star Wars, King Kong, Jaws, Jason and the Argonauts and other great adventure pieces, Robert listened to the voices in his head and entertained the strange visions dancing through his mind to assist him with writing his fantasy series The Woodmyst Chronicles.
Robert has penned ten books for the series which follow the lives of many characters, particularly focussing upon a family who must face many trials before the epic conclusion. Clashing swords, strange creatures, flying dragons and sorcery inhabit the world surrounding Woodmyst.
Robert has also written three standalone books, Long Valley, The Calm Voice and Pit Guard: The Tanner's Boy.
Robert currently lives in Canberra, Australia where he hopes to one day become a full-time writer.

Pit Guard: The Tanner's Boy by Robert E Kreig is a grand fantasy adventure that has all the elements needed to please die-hard fans. When the peaceful existence of a small coastal town is shattered by the senseless killing and destruction wrought by an unknown raiding party, the only one left alive is Arnald, a thirteen-year-old boy. Commander Steigauf, a Pit Guard of Dendadia, is on his way back to his home when he comes across Arnald. The Pit Guard sees potential in Arnald and together they set off to find the nearest magistrate to report the town's misfortune. When they reach Shiverwind, the Commander agrees to train Arnald along with other recruits. When news reaches them from Mountainfall of a heinous murder, the Pit Guard, together with Arnald, a young Elvish fighter, and the men under his command set off to see what can be done. When they reach Mountainfall, what they find is even worse than they expected. Facing the monster in the forest might be too much for the fighters.
Pitguard: The Tanner's Boy by Robert E Kreig is written in true epic style. The narrative is as harsh as the landscape of Kedielewen. Survival can be brutal and there are violent scenes that can be upsetting as they involve children. The world-building is vibrant, with every page filled with such detail that the reader becomes absorbed in the narrative. It has been a while since I read a book that gave me palpitations and apprehension about the obstacles the characters would encounter and how they would overcome them, whether it is a monster or something more mundane. Robert Kreig has kept to the parameters of classic high fantasy and created a believable world with racial tensions and prejudice. Small-town dynamics and superstitions are also used to provide authenticity to the milieu and characters. He has created a marvelous book that is excellent as a stand-alone but I would love to read more of Arnald and his journey to become a Pit Guard.
