Pocket of Pain by Lady Warfield follows the life of a young woman as she embarks on a ski trip with her friends and then finds herself in a very intense relationship. With her parents' marriage steadily going downhill and the verbal abuse her father delivers, it is very difficult for her to see the difference between a healthy relationship and an unhealthy one. Her boyfriend becomes so controlling that he forces her to choose between her friends and him, but that’s only the beginning. As his narcissistic tendencies become worse and worse, she strives to find her own peace of mind. But, with the trauma that mental and emotional abuse have left behind, will she be able to move forward and find the happiness she deserves?

Pocket of Pain is a memoir that will take you on a roller coaster of psychological trauma that happens when someone is mentally abused. Lady Warfield has an unbelievable amount of resilience that will benefit anyone who chooses to read her book. This talented writer shows a remarkable amount of courage that shines through the mental growth that is evident in each chapter. The challenges she faced will help others in similar situations see that they are not alone and that they can overcome abuse. I recommend this memoir to those who enjoy true stories that inspire others to move forward, past the pain of abuse, and into a newer and brighter future. I hope Lady Warfield continues writing more books like this that will help other victims learn how to heal from mental and emotional pain.
