Author Biography

I wrote Porch Pirate Love because I realized I had never written a rom-com novel, and I felt the world was ready for a quirky, funny, positive love story. The other five novels I've written all feature romantic relationships, but they aren't primarily about love, like Porch Pirate Love. And of course, I couldn't resist adding some very unconventional overtones and undertones about characters, places, and porch pirating that give the novel its heart, soul, grit, and humor. I hope you enjoy Porch Pirate Love.

Porch Pirate Love by Irene Woodbury is a humorous love story that strangely ignites when an ex-UPS courier driver who has turned into a porch pirate goes on his usual rounds and steals a crib from the porch of a woman who is eight months pregnant. Upon chasing the porch pirate, Kit falls, calling for help. Comically, only the porch pirate can help, so Danny drives his target to the hospital and becomes the baby's daddy on the birth certificate. In some bizarre and horrific events in Danny's life, including an 18-month prison sentence and Kit's tumultuous relationship with the baby's actual daddy, Mike, the two who met most unusually fall in love. However, it's uncertain whether the multiple twists and turns in their relationship could lead to a happily ever after, and the only way to find out is to go on the adventure with them.

Porch Pirate Love by Irene Woodbury is a comically imaginative and riveting story that had me laughing out loud upon reading only the first few pages. The plot is original, refreshing, and wholly entertaining. The characters, Danny and Kit, are ordinary people whose lives dealt them some bad cards. Ironically at some point in the story, both of them have jobs dealing cards in poker, which is when their luck seems to change. But with Danny and Kit, anything can go wrong, and I found myself waiting on the edge of my seat for another bizarre turn of events. The initial absurd meeting between Danny and Kit left me in stitches. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Porch Pirate Love; it is a well-written, easy-to-read, and entertaining book.

Porch Pirate Love by Irene Woodbury is blessed with two interesting characters that don’t pretend to be lovable. Kit Wells is a 22-year-old blackjack dealer who is eight months into her pregnancy. While making her protein shake, a wiry porch pirate steals her newly-delivered package containing her soon-to-be-born baby’s crib. As she tries to stop the porch pirate, she loses her balance and her water breaks. Danny Potter is the porch pirate in question - a former UPS delivery man who was fired for driving under the influence and causing a major accident. Little did Danny know that he had chosen the wrong porch to steal from, as the single mom who is trying to keep her head above water has serious problems. His porch pirating foray is going to give him more than he had bargained for.

Irene Woodbury’s Porch Pirate Love is just about the best romantic comedy novel I have read so far this year. It is not only smart, but it is also funny and has its share of touching moments. It is filled with humorous incidents that you can identify with that reveal the dimensionality of its characters and the relevance of the issues that it raises. Woodbury creates a storyline that portrays Kit and Danny as an odd couple, and this is what makes the plot tick. Frequently the person that comes into our lives is not perfect and it is up to us to embrace that imperfection and in doing so enjoy a uniquely romantic experience. This is the kind of feeling that Woodbury provides. Reading it for yourself is the best way for you to see how much you’ll be entertained.

Single, twenty-two-year-old Kit Wells was an eight-month-pregnant blackjack dealer living in Vegas. While in the kitchen one morning, her door camera alarm went off, and what she saw shocked her. A man was stealing her unborn baby’s new crib right off her porch. His name was Danny, twenty-seven years old, a former UPS driver, and a practicing porch pirate. Kit ran out her door to stop Danny when the unimaginable happened. She fell down the porch steps, and her water broke. Danny was in a fix. Should he save Kit or hightail it and face potential grievous consequences? This encounter brought two troubled people together, and the drama is unending. Get ready for the love, loss, lust, secrets, and more in Porch Pirate Love by Irene Woodbury.

Love abounds in the strangest places, and we love to see it. When Danny stole from Kit’s porch, he got more than he bargained for. Porch Pirate Love by Irene Woodbury was a hilarious, romantic, and educational novel. The plot was unique and unconventional, while the characters were striking. Danny was my favorite character in the book because of his determination. I loved the step he took in Reno and how it all turned out. However, his life also taught me to be wary of evil companies because they reflect us. I didn’t like Kit so much but respected her because she was resilient. Parents must be intentional about their deeds because children suffer untold consequences when things go wrong. Lastly, I love Irene’s fun writing style and flawless editing. Please, write more.

Kit is eight months pregnant when a porch pirate is about to steal the box that contains her baby's crib. When she tries to stop him and accidentally falls, her water breaks. Kit lives alone, so the only person she can ask for help is Danny, the porch pirate. That is how the two get to know each other, and this is only the beginning of the extraordinary story that Irene Woodbury tells in Porch Pirate Love. A lot will happen to Kit and Danny from the moment they meet. They will have to deal with Kit's ex-boyfriend, the baby's kidnapping, and Danny's many misadventures. Will they eventually be able to live happily together?

Porch Pirate Love tells an exciting story with many twists. I have rarely read a book where so many things happen one after the other. The beginning is compelling, and the story gets better and better as you read. Irene Woodbury never bores her readers, because after every event something new always happens. Kit and Danny drift apart and reunite several times, for many reasons, and if you (like me) are on their side, you will constantly wonder if their relationship will last or whether it is finally over. This is a book that I recommend because it will keep you company and let you share incredible adventures with Kit, Danny, and all the other characters you meet along the way. I am sure you will be glad to have read this book, as I am.

Porch Pirate Love by Irene Woodbury is a humorous, fast-paced romance with chaotic characters and an even more chaotic plot. Kit Wells is a 22-year-old blackjack dealer and heavily pregnant. Unmarried and eight months pregnant is not a good combination, but things take a strange turn when a porch pirate visits her home. Danny Potter is 27, single, broke and jobless. After he loses his UPS driver job, Danny becomes a porch pirate to survive. However, one day when he picks up a package from a porch, Danny has no idea that a) the owner of the package is 8 months pregnant, b) will fall down the stairs, and c) will go into labor. What happens next in this hilarious tale might not come as a surprise, but it is as entertaining as hell.

Comical and satisfying, light and fun, Porch Pirate Love by Irene Woodbury is exactly what you expect yet it is surprising at the same time. I like Kit, but I love Danny. He has a very no-nonsense attitude. He is often bullshitting, but he does it with so much confidence that you believe him. Kit handles him well, and they make the perfect couple. They balance out each other’s crazy and make sure readers enjoy their story. Author Irene Woodbury's narrative style works perfectly with this story and allows readers to fully immerse in it. The characters are simple, well-thought-out, and created to be entertaining. Simple and short, this novella is the perfect story during a commute and for light reading.
