Preying 4 Rain is a work of fiction in the crime and thriller subgenres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience owing to the use of explicit language throughout and some sexual situations. It was penned by the team of Steve Verba and Wayne Wright and is narrated in audiobook format by the latter. The plot follows Jamie and Soo Jin, two dangerous black widow figures seeking out lonely old souls to envelop in a seductive web until they leave Jamie and Soo all their money under mysterious circumstances.

In terms of the story itself, you’d be hard-pressed to find a tenser crime thriller within this sinister, slick, and darkly themed subgenre. Author team Steve Verba and Wayne Wright have captured a unique concept in Preying 4 Rain. It follows a villainous pathway that alternates between our central villains and a message about protecting our elders, back to the fallibility of men when they’re presented with temptation. This is extremely well balanced to deliver thrills in every chapter and I especially enjoyed the use of dialogue to move the plot along and give us more development around Jamie and Soo Jin’s central relationship.

In terms of the audiobook presentation, I found Wayne Wright’s wry narration to be smooth, clear, and effective, with just the right pacing to tell the tale. It had the ideal level of tongue-in-cheek dryness, and the wit to keep the suspense going at all the right moments. The editing is perfectly smooth and of high quality. I would recommend Preying 4 Rain to mystery fans everywhere and especially the audiobook version for a truly immersive and chilling experience.

To many people, loneliness is something to be avoided, but to Jamie and Soo Jin it is a siren call of opportunity. This pair sees loneliness as an opportunity for them to gain what they want to live their lives to the fullest. There are plenty of old wealthy people that spend the end of their lives taking pills and just sitting and watching TV; this pair of scammers believes these people only need a little push to speed them on their way to the end. Are you ready to dive into the machinations of this black widow duo as they scheme their way toward richer lives for themselves and shorter lives for others?

Preying 4 Rain by Steve Verba and Wayne Wright would appeal most to a mixed audience of young adults and adults who enjoy black widow stories and who do not mind some explicit language and sexual situations. Preying 4 Rain is a well-written and well-narrated audiobook that grabbed my attention right from the first chapter and held it until the very end. Of the black widow pair, I found myself liking Jamie the most. She may have been a “bad guy”, but I still found myself liking her. When I learned about how Jamie and Soon Jin had been taken advantage of when they were young and how they had suffered abuse, I could not help but feel sympathetic toward them even as they took advantage of others.

The narrator of Preying 4 Rain is Wayne Wright. Wayne may not be a famous voice actor yet but he has a talent for it. Wayne did not just read the book out loud; he brought it to life with his voice. The way he related Jamie and Soon Jin’s antics truly pulled me into their lives and made me want to keep listening to find out how their story would end. I really enjoyed this audiobook.

Preying 4 Rain by Steve Verba and Wayne Wright is a story of greed, deceit, and treachery. Soo Jin and Jamie were femmes fatales, two beautiful young women sniffing around their next target. Their victim of choice? Rich old men whose time was already running out. The girls were abused and taken advantage of when they were young, so they were just returning the favor. The two took turns to swindle money out of those old men and made sure they wreaked as much havoc as they could.

This is a high-quality novel with high-quality writing. You may think two writers would make things tough, but Steve Verba and Wayne Wright both managed to find a rhythm that worked perfectly for the story. Soo Jin and Jamie were fantastic, to say the least. They were cunning, seductive, and incredibly well-developed. They knew what they were doing was wrong and had zero regrets about what they did. I loved that about them. The pace was perfect, the character development was fantastic, and Preying 4 Rain proved to be the entertainment I wanted. I highly recommend it!

I fell in love with how Wayne Wright narrated Preying 4 Rain. He added richness to the story and made it more real, a little bit more entertaining, and added weight to it. He changed his voice, distributed the ups and down, and created a whole different experience with the cadence and tone of his voice. Wright’s way of narrating was so strong that I listened to the story for 5 hours straight and didn’t pay attention to my responsibilities for the day.
