The second installment of the Princess Rouran Adventures by Shawe Ruckus, Princess Rouran and The Book of the Living takes up again from the events toward the end of the first installment. It follows Edith Orozco, a third-year university student, who teams up with her niece, Moli, and two other youngsters named James and Kiza, at the behest of Moxie the Ninth, a cat snake, to stop the end of humanity. An evil trio led by a rogue AI named Pandorai, with a resurrected Adolf Hitler and Dr. Shiro Ishii, has been destroying the world, and the only way to stop them is to collect the nine wonders of the world within nine days. Now, Edith and her friends must travel back in time to the tomb of King Unas to retrieve the Book of the Living.

An action-packed narrative filled with unexpected plot twists and turns makes Princess Rouran and The Book of the Living a treat for fantasy and sci-fi lovers. Shawe Ruckus has created a magnificent world full of otherworldly creatures and futuristic technology, resulting in a uniquely engaging setting where you are completely immersed. Each character has a distinct and memorable personality to whom you will find yourself getting attached, at least the heroes. The villains have a presence of their own, especially the two infamous historical figures who ally themselves with the nefarious AI, Pandorai. Overall, this is a stellar sequel to Princess Rouran and The Dragon Chariot of Ten Thousand Sages, and one that I will gladly recommend.
