Princess Rouran and the Book of the Living (Princess Rouran Adventures 2) by Shawe Ruckus follows four protagonists led by Edith as they travel back to ancient Egypt to obtain the Book of the Living. The book may be an important part of finally stopping the evil AI called Pandorai that is hell-bent on causing destruction.

Princess Rouran and the Book of the Living is an imaginative and wonderfully crafted story that centers on Edith and the companions she meets along the way. This tale incorporates so many different elements from time travel to historical figures and each was well executed. It was clear that Shawe Ruckus put a lot of effort into this book and, as a reader, I appreciated how well this story is written. The characters were all complex with their versions of the events that take place and I found the focus on their experiences to be immersive. It allowed me to connect with the characters despite the unrealistic experiences and events that occur throughout the plot and ultimately grounded the story as a whole.

The plot itself was so interesting and I loved the complexities of it. Narrator Deborah Balm read with a clear voice and had excellent pronunciation, which came in handy with a lot of the more complex words used. Considering the nature of the book I would have liked a bit more emotion and variation in tone from the narrator; otherwise, I enjoyed the audiobook very much.
