Reclamation by Ashley Fontainne is a psychological thriller that draws upon elements of the horror genre. This story will appeal to fans of Stephen King, especially those who like stories that blur the lines between what the character truly experiences and what the character is imagining. Mandy Morgan and her twin brother, Parker, plan and execute their final scam: the reclamation of the disembodied soul of a wealthy widow's husband. Unbeknown to Mandy, her feigned talent for communicating with the dead is anything but, although she dismisses this as one of Parker's many computer-generated charades. Mandy finds a perfectly logical explanation when she learns that she unwittingly took a highly hallucinogenic drug that she found in her brother's stash of joints. Yet she cannot account for the hauntings from her dead mother or the sense of dread and paranoia that will push her to a final reckoning.

Ashley Fontainne seduces her readers with psychological intrigue and depth. Her writing style is fast-paced, incorporating suitable metaphors to emphasize the emotional and spiritual struggle occurring within Mandy's character. Mandy and her brother still carry their emotional baggage after years of parental abuse for financial gain. These details are revealed in stages throughout the story, integrating with the plot rather than being exposed at the start. The opening scene of holiday shopping hooked me right away when past and present and physical and spiritual clash on the plains of Mandy Morgan's psyche in Reclamation.
