When Jason Kirby applied for the vacant CFO position at SMI, he felt it would be a two-year stint he could use to polish his CV and get some much-needed automotive industry experience. All that changed when he got the job. Jason found that what he considered as low-key financial impropriety on the part of some senior members of staff turned out to be far more nefarious. In a bid to maintain his integrity and keep SMI afloat, he is forced to go up against a system that is so corrupt its tentacles spread across the world in more ways than one. What happens when corruption fights back? Find out in JT Palace's Risky Business.

Risky Business brings boardroom politicking to the forefront in ways many are unaware of. The storyline reads a lot like a memoir as opposed to a work of fiction which makes me wonder if there's more to this entertaining novel than meets the eye. JT Palace takes his time to craft the characters, giving them a secretive aura that is commonplace in the murky world of business. Kirby shows courage and an impressive ability to keep a cool head in the face of mounting odds, a trait I was instantly enamored with. The high point for me is the way the author maintains the suspense by using intriguing subplots that exude the authenticity of a well-researched novel. His intention to give readers an idea of what happens behind the closed doors of the boardroom is achieved with this scintillating novel.
