Nowadays, educators face numerous challenges ranging from classroom management in the age of social media and smartphones to disruptive student behavior and dissatisfied parents. Marcy Cassidy has had a long career as a teacher, principal, and superintendent. In Roll Call, Cassidy introduces educators to innovative guidelines and teaching techniques to improve and maximize their skills and help students receive the best education, focusing on their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. In this book, readers will learn about implementing a school improvement plan, strategies to manage extreme behaviors and social-emotional deficits in students, the three categories of Active Participation Strategies, guidelines for assigning homework and grades, creating school-wide behavioral expectations, a proactive approach to classroom management, instilling a growth mindset, assessing the social-emotional needs of students and addressing them, setting up routine faculty meetings, and much more.

With an increasingly dwindling attention span among students primarily due to social media and video games, Roll Call is a must-read for modern educators. This book will help you create an environment that encourages student participation and maximizes their potential while showing you how to manage your career development plan in the teaching profession. Modern problems require creative and out-of-the-box solutions. Citing multiple experts in the education sector as well as recounting personal anecdotes, Marcy Cassidy does just that by offering readers a comprehensive framework for education, drawing upon her years of experience in the field. The author uses 'Fitness Challenges' throughout the book to better acquaint the reader with the topic at hand. I found Cassidy's guidelines to be well-researched and meticulously detailed. This is an informative and educational book that I highly recommend to anyone involved in the teaching profession.
