Sade is the only person in the family who is upset they are moving to Canada. The rest of them are all excited. She does not want to leave her best friend or miss her favorite TV show, apart from the other things she enjoyed doing. She wanted to tell her mom that they were making a big mistake. Her mom tells her that although change can be hard, good things will come with it. They both decide to make a list. Sade pins the good things about Canada on her wall, more of being with Dad, snow, and new friends, and she starts dreaming about her new life in Canada. Will she eventually be as excited about the move as her family?

Sade: We're Moving to Canada! by Yewande Daniel-Ayoade is a wonderful story that tackles the topic of moving to a new place from a child's perspective. Many times it can be painful and difficult for children to leave their friends and comfort zones and adjust to a new place and make new friends. The author captures the apprehension and feelings of Sade perfectly through this story, helping many young readers connect with her plight and emotions. The illustrations are as adorable as the story and they breathe life into the story and the characters and make them real and relatable. It is a good storybook for parents and tutors to use for storytelling sessions at home and in classrooms to help youngsters understand and accept change, and to look at it in a positive way.
