Secrets Never End is a work of fiction in the crime, action, and suspense genres. Penned by author Dave Lager, this interesting novel delves into the turmoil of Deputy Sheriff Ro Delahanty as she fights to clear her brother's name from murder accusations. When her sibling becomes the prime suspect in his ex-girlfriend's disappearance, Ro refuses to let him suffer for a crime he didn't commit. As she delves into the investigation, Ro uncovers chilling secrets and faces danger lurking in the shadows. With her determination and courage, Ro navigates a treacherous path to uncover the truth, risking her own safety in the process. An intense and gripping crime novel that kept me glued to the pages with its suspenseful narrative filled with twists and turns.

I found the descriptions and buildup of atmosphere striking from the start, drawing readers into Ro Delahanty's gritty world of crime and intrigue with a great amount of detail. The character of Ro is well-narrated with this same level of detail to make her as compelling and relatable as possible, with her tenacity and resilience shining through as she battles against the odds to seek justice for her brother. The speech and thought presentation around Ro allows her to narrate exposition and revelations naturally, so that we reach our conclusions and put the clues together with her, watching the consequences unfold from her shoulder. Dave Lager's careful pacing of the plot and the revealing of clues create a sense of urgency that propels the story forward, with us chasing the next discovery and always satisfied by the results. Overall, Secrets Never End is a thrilling addition to the Ro Delahanty series, and it’s sure to please any readers seeking gripping crime thrillers that leave a lasting impression.

In Secrets Never End by Dave Lager, when Tuck's ex-girlfriend, Fiona Hazlett, failed to show up for work, he went to check on her at her home. Tuck became the primary suspect in her disappearance, but Ro would not allow Tuck, her brother, to be arrested for a crime he did not commit. In a semi-wild area near Fiona’s house, two women found a yellow running shoe with bloodstains on it. Police officers began searching the area, looking for Fiona’s body or any other evidence. Being a thorough cop, Ro was determined to find Fiona’s body and followed her instincts leading her into the woods. During her search in the woods, Ro became aware of an evil presence and was viciously attacked. Will Ro be able to clear her brother’s name in time?

Secrets Never End by Dave Lager is a captivating and action-packed crime novel. I could not read this page-turner fast enough; I was too afraid I would miss something. With all the twists and turns, I never knew what would happen next and was guessing until the end. Every event was described in detail, and it was easy to lose myself in Ro’s world. I was hooked from the start until the very end and could not put it down. The characters were authentic and relatable. Ro was not your standard policewoman, which was interesting and refreshing. She was family-oriented and did everything possible to help her brother. The story is a well-written and enjoyable read. Several stories were woven together, which laid the foundation for a sequel to this book.

Secrets Never End by Dave Lager is the fourth book in the Ro Delahanty crime series. Ro Delahanty is reeling. Her brother’s ex has gone missing, and he is the prime suspect but Ro doesn’t believe he had anything to do with it. When a bloody shoe is found, the hunt is on, but as she searches the woods on instinct, she doesn’t expect an attack that nearly kills her. Ro is nothing if not determined, and she won’t let the attack hold her back. Can Ro find an evil killer before she becomes a victim? Can Ro clear her brother’s name, or is he destined to pay for a crime he never committed?

Secrets Never End by Dave Lager is described as a page-turner, and that is exactly what it is. This book is part of a series and should be read as such, although I found it easy enough to follow as a standalone. I love a strong lead character, male or female, and I’m seeing more and more female-led stories these days. This novel is full of heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat action that will keep you reading long into the night – you won’t want to put it down in case you miss something! All the characters are well-developed, likable, relatable people you feel you could really get to know. This is compelling reading, descriptive in a way that draws you in, and while it is a serious crime thriller, it also has a fun, adventurous element that unfolds throughout. I enjoyed this book and will definitely go back to the start of the series to get the full picture. I look forward to what’s coming next.
