Seven Ghosts is the final installment of the Matt Preston Novel series by Paul Shadinger. Matt Preston was enjoying his hard-earned but humdrum retirement when a newspaper report of a hit-and-run incident involving his former friend and fellow "ghost" Trey embroils him in a deep conspiracy he could have never have predicted. Upon delving into Trey's seemingly mysterious death, Matt learns that among the seven ghosts working on covert missions for the government, only he and his old friend Walter McLaughlin remain alive, because someone was eliminating them one by one. Realizing that both of their lives are in danger, Matt sets off on a hunt to expose the people behind the killings, only to fall foul of the authorities. With federal agencies on their tail, will Matt be able to emerge unscathed against an enemy who always seems to be one step ahead?

An action-packed rollercoaster of thrills and intrigue, Seven Ghosts wraps up the series with a neat little bow. Paul Shadinger takes little time in getting things moving and puts the reader straight into the middle of the action from the outset. Matt's ingenious investigative skills and the way he uses his old contacts in fighting against powerful men make him easy to root for. It felt immensely satisfying when he eventually has his revenge on the people who were responsible for the death of his old friends. The tone of the narrative feels similar to the Bourne movie franchise, and anyone who loves spy thrillers will appreciate it.
