Sloth and the Leaves by author TigerJoy tells the story of a young sloth who sits in his tree, hoping to eat some delicious leaves that are growing nearby. As he reaches for them, he is stopped by the monkeys who want to eat the fruit from the tree. They block his path to the leaves. Sloth remains in his tree, waiting for the next opportunity. Each time he tries to eat the leaves, he is thwarted by something: birds, ants, and extreme weather. Other creatures are faster than he is or they can fly, while the sloth is limited to clinging to his tree. Then the sun shines and, finally, there are no more interruptions so Sloth can eat the leaves. He is very happy and it was worth the wait.

TigerJoy has written a charming and easy-to-read book with Sloth and the Leaves. It shows that adversity can be overcome if you are patient and keep trying. The illustrations are simple, but they help to tell the story. I believe this would be useful for young children as it would show them that we all move at our own pace but that we can still achieve everything that we want to if we keep moving forward. The author has created a simple, but powerful story that has a relevant message at its core. I would recommend it for children aged 3-5 years as they would enjoy it most. This would be an enjoyable bedtime story.
