It was exactly six months since Leah Ann had lost her mother, and now she was a bridesmaid at her ex-boyfriend’s wedding. It did not help that she was still crazily in love with Raymond, her ex, or that everyone in the small town of SunnyVille knew that Raymond did not love her back. That’s why the last thing she needed was waking up to pictures of herself on social media looking miserable and lonely as she drowned herself in champagne, or breaking down in her car at the wedding, all of them with heartless captions like “Jilted lover drowns her sorrows,” and “Oh, the pain of rejection.” It was going to be a long time before SunnyVille moved on from gossiping about her. When Leah’s best friend Miguel offers to have her tag along as he visits Santa Lorena, she accepts, just to have a break. But Miguel has been secretly in love with Leah since the first day he saw her in seventh grade, and plans on letting her know while in Santa Lorena. Can Leah get over Raymond and fall for another man? Find out in Dalia Dupris’ Soft Lies and Hard Truths.

This page-turner is going to have you hooked, flipping from cover to cover. If you are looking for a riveting contemporary romance novel, Dalia Dupris’ Soft Lies and Hard Truths is the answer. Both Leah Ann and Miguel have fallen in love with the wrong people. Leah’s love for Raymond has taken more from her than she realizes, including her confidence and perhaps dignity. While Miguel has never made his true feelings for Leah clear, Leah considers him the brother she never had, and that may be all she could ever see him as. But only love can rewrite Miguel’s story with the broken beauty. Dupris weaves an intriguing plot, featuring an exciting, dynamic cast. The realistic depictions of the characters' feelings and the juxtaposing of their complex traits had me on an emotional rollercoaster as I connected with them. Coupled with Dupris’ knack for whipping up witty dramatic scenes and colorful evocative depictions, this made the reading experience feel like I was watching a Hollywood romance comedy.
