Spirit Pass by Angela Ellen Grey is a collection of novellas involving tribal law enforcement and certain types of missing persons and murder cases. This collection examines the high murder rates and cases of missing Native American women. As the author highlights, this is a problem these women have experienced for decades. The collection picks up the pace when Claudia Shepherd, a perky, dedicated, and ambitious Native American and new second-grade teacher is introduced. Detective Sergeant Jessica Stone specializes in resolving murder and missing person cases. Agnes, a Native American receptionist, assists in most of these cases. It's devastating news when it's discovered that Claudia tragically lost her life. This is only the beginning; read more to find out!

Following the series of investigations, I like the suspense that this book creates. Angela Ellen Grey takes us on an unforgettable journey of murder and mystery. The character development in these stories is comprehensive. Also, it's exceptional that the author gives a brief but detailed background on each character. This helped me understand the narrative from a different angle. I was able to put everything into context as far as the storyline is concerned. I related to the challenges that Native American women face constantly. Spirit Pass shines a ray of hope, especially for Native American women who feel their issues have been ignored. I'd recommend this book to a mature audience since the language used and the scenes depicted are explicit.
