Split City, A Jesus Spares Mystery by Andy Straka is about a murder. The story centers on identical twins Billy and Bo Gills and the people who live and work in Partridgeberry. Billy is the owner of a bowling alley, his brother Bo is the owner of a bowling shoe manufacturer, and each has an interest in both companies. Billy receives a call from the sheriff that his brother has been found dead and needs to identify him at the morgue. When Billy views the body, though it looks very much like his brother, he is convinced that Bo is still alive. When indeed Bo is located in a nearby town attending a conference, the story begins. Bo is arrested and jailed for the murder of the look-alike, and Billy, believing in his brother's innocence, sets out to find the real killer. Billy does well as an amateur detective, turning over many stones and throwing suspicion in different directions before the surprising conclusion.

Split City by Andy Straka is filled with suspense and entertainment. I enjoyed reading Split City and found Billy to be a very likable almost-hero. The plot is quick-moving and fun to read, the characters are all strong, and even Herk, the dog, adds a lot to the story. Andy Straka has created the perfect non-professional detective that I am hoping we will see again and again. I believe that Split City is well worth reading, and I also can see it with a weekly TV series future. Split City is a great read and a sure winner!
