There are not many books about Muslim heroes, especially for children. Tamara M. Haque has done her part to remedy this by authoring Stories of 20 Mighty Muslim Heroes. If you enjoy biographies and works about history, you will certainly enjoy this book. The inspirational material will surely keep the interest of children, but it will also enlighten the adult reading audience as they read the book to their children. Tamara has chosen twenty Muslims to highlight the significant contributions that followers of Islam have given to Western civilization. She starts with those alive during the time of the Prophet and continues to modern times. You will be thrilled to learn about the first nurse, first doctor, and the man who blessed the world with algebra. It may surprise you that the world’s oldest running university was founded over 1000 years ago by a Muslim female.

Tamara M. Haque wrote Stories of 20 Mighty Muslim Heroes to teach children about the rich Muslim heritage. Her writing is engaging and informative. Tamara has chosen Muslim heroes that will inspire Muslim children, and indeed children in general. In each chapter, Tamara gives a moral which teaches children they can do and become anything. Her writing is encouraging, and I feel that parents should read this with their children and help them understand these valuable lessons. Many parents may not be familiar with the heroes presented, but Tamara imparts much information, and her writing style will keep the interest of an audience of any age. After introducing each hero, Tamara discusses facts about their lives and contributions so that readers from any background can benefit from the knowledge. They will be enlightened about the significant gifts that Muslims have given to the West and the world.
