Author Biography

Donna Huston Murray’s cozy mystery series features an amateur sleuth much like herself, a DIY headmaster's wife with a troubling interest in crime. The latest Gin Barnes’ FOR BETTER OR WORSE was a Finalist for the National Indie Excellence Award for mysteries, and the first two novels in the Lauren Beck mystery/crime series won Honorable Mention in genre fiction from Writer’s Digest.

In 2022, Donna became the tenth inductee into her high school’s Lifetime Achievement Award Hall of Fame. To hint that she’s still writing, the plaque reads, “…and more,” below her listed books.

When she isn’t plotting mayhem, Donna assumes she can fix anything until proven wrong, calls trash-picking recycling, and, although she should probably know better by now, adores Irish setters.

Donna and husband, Hench, live in the greater Philadelphia, PA, USA, area.

Stranger Danger by Donna Huston Murray is the third installment in the Lauren Beck Crime series. Lauren Beck, a former police officer, surprises her father with an unexpected visit. But, instead of a warm welcome and an introduction to his new wife, Lauren is attacked by an unknown assailant. After an uncomfortable visit to the police station, her father returns home, but the visit is far from the family get-together it should have been; instead, her father’s wife is missing, and the clues point to a string of abductions that seem to be connected. Although she is technically not a police officer anymore, she follows Ana’s trail to determine if she was abducted like the other girls or has walked out on her father.

I loved this investigative thriller about a former police officer that can’t stay away from a case, especially when it involves her family. The investigation is expertly detailed as Lauren connects the dots of abductions while she quietly investigates the disappearance of her stepmother. The best part is how Chief Jack Jenkins doesn’t try to stop Lauren from investigating, even though she’s not supposed to be involved. I highly recommend Stranger Danger to anyone who loves a jam-packed thriller full of action and unexpected twists. I hope to read more by Donna Huston Murray very soon!
