Suit Up for Launch with Shay! by Sharon Caples McDougle is a very imaginative, perceptive, and educational children’s story about a little girl Shay, who spends her time daydreaming about all sorts of adventures. While she was talking to her mom, they both came up with a great adventure for the day: becoming an astronaut! Or at least, dressing up as one. Shay’s mom had to make sure that all information was covered so Shay could learn more about how astronauts dress, and how exactly they live in those sealed suits. Questions like how do astronauts go to the toilet, what color is the astronaut suit, and how they put it on, among many others, can make every parent's head spin! Bravely taking on the challenge that her little Shay has given her with all her inquisitive skills, her mom will have to put extra effort into the process of helping her daughter dress up as an astronaut for the day.
Suit Up for Launch with Shay is a delightful story full of colorful illustrations and details. Sharon Caples McDougle approaches the writing from an imaginative and cheerful angle, and perfectly describes a child’s inquisitiveness and excitement about the topic, giving the young reader a lot of educational details and information that will blow their minds for sure! It is a great story that will appeal to children and adults alike. It is almost immersive and creates a feeling of being a part of the story and little Shay’s excitement at becoming an astronaut for a day.
