In Ann Ornie's Summoning Spruce, a pact between loggers and those who guard the forest's magic is on the verge of collapsing owing to the horrifying discovery of a dead human, while a gifted woman's research could be the only thing that prevents the magical trees from being chopped down. After a bloodless body is discovered in the river above the town, The Row's Council hires Josephine Swell to verify that no blood magic is being performed on The Row and ensure that peace is preserved between Spruce and The Row. Sprucers, also known as Ironhearts, are thought to have hearts made of more iron than individuals from The Row, which prevents them from connecting with the innate vitality of the elements. Josephine, who can detect energy signatures in many items, must utilize her ability to rescue her natural, magical environment.

Summoning Spruce is magnificent and magical in two respects. For starters, the well-woven information and fascinating plot keep you wanting to read more. Second, the book's conversational writing style and compelling use of language make reading a delightful experience. Even violent events, such as being attacked by someone, are described poetically, such as "it brought colors behind my eyelids; red of the ripest raspberries." Romance, a sweet bond with a dog, unexpected truths, and strong physical, verbal, and magical battles are among the book's other appealing components. Ann Ornie provides relevant environmental lessons packaged in a lovely novel that combines a magic-themed tale with detective fiction and strikes a stunning blow at the conclusion. This is the perfect choice for nature lovers, witchcraft aficionados, and those concerned about the environment.
