Whether you enjoy military history in general or biographies in particular, Terror in Frankfurt: The Untold Story About One of the Worst Terrorist Attacks in U.S. Air Force History by Master Sergeant Trevor D. Brewer and W. Craig Reed is for you. This engaging memoir follows the life and career of MSgt Brewer from childhood, culminating in his role in helping to capture the terrorist who was found guilty of the 2011 Frankfurt Airport shooting which left two United States Air Force airmen dead, two wounded, and many impacted for life by the emotional trauma. MSgt Brewer’s account provides a unique perspective. His courageous and swift actions that day garnered an Airman’s Medal and the Cross of the Order of Merit from the German government.

In Terror in Frankfurt, MSgt Trevor D. Brewer and W. Craig Reed give us a well-written first-person narrative with multiple layers. First is MSgt Brewer’s own story of his childhood, family, interests in martial arts and music, his decision to enter military service, and his subsequent assignments and achievements. His seeking a security forces career rather than that of a musician, as he once contemplated, eventually places him on a military bus transport at the Frankfurt Airport in 2011 just as a terrorist decides to kill the passengers onboard. Second is the effect of both physical and emotional trauma, whether experienced on a battlefield, during a terrorist attack, or in other violent settings in the civilian world. Post-traumatic stress disorder is a reality with which many of our fellow Americans and their families struggle every day. A fascinating read. Highly recommended.

As the father of A1C Zachary Cuddeback, I highly recommend Trevor Brewer's Terror in Frankfurt. It is engaging, honest, and a full account of the terror attack. I knew my son was killed prior to it being announced; call it fatherly instinct. I met Trevor at the trial and told him then that he was brave and honorable. I am proud to know Trevor and proud that he was able to push through writing this book while dealing with his own trauma. Thank you Trevor.
