Author Biography

As a novelist of provocative political thrillers steeped in facts, Sally wasn’t always twisting facts with fiction. Heavily endowed with skills acquired in banking, she embarked on her writing career. Her books of fiction also reflect the knowledge garnered from her business experiences, while living in New York City, San Francisco, and Hong Kong.

Sally’s foray into writing fiction officially began in 2007 when the presidential election cycle was in full swing. The overwhelming political spin by the media compelled her to question the frightening possibilities the political scene could generate. As a confirmed political junkie, she took to the keyboard armed with unwinding events and discovered a new and exciting career.

The Beekeeper’s Secret is Sally’s sixth novel and the second in the “Max Ford Thriller” series. It is preceded by the Award-Winning Climatized, soon to be a major motion picture, featuring Maxine Ford as the female protagonist. Her prior series, “The Simon Tetralogy,” is comprised of Brotherhood Beyond the Yard, Noble’s Quest, The Ultimate Revenge and Redemption. Each book provides an exhilarating platform for the next, with a gripping narrative that challenges the reader to put the book down. Her development of the other characters has created a lasting bond between them and the reader, especially now that Max has taken center stage.

A world traveler, Sally has visited every continent and over fifty countries. Sally and her husband, also the content editor-in-residence, continue to travel extensively throughout the world.

When a U.S. Senator is found dead in his hotel room in Brazil, Max Ford, a former CIA operative turned private detective, takes notice, not the least because Senator Jeffrey Lance was her friend, but his wife, Allison, was also Maxine’s best friend. Before long, Max finds herself up to her neck in deaths, conspiracies and even the “deep state.” With her many connections within the government, Maxine Ford has access that most private detectives would die for, but she also knows from past experience that when she starts rocking the boat at this level, people get agitated and that is not good for her health. In The Beekeeper’s Secret (Max Ford Thrillers), Sally Fernandez brings us a chillingly realistic tale of natural medicine and honey bees versus 'Big Pharma' and the trillions of dollars that are at stake in the battle to discover a cure for that most pernicious of diseases – cancer.

If you love conspiracy theories, especially ones that involve the very highest echelons of the US government, you’ll adore Sally Fernandez’s The Beekeeper's Secret. This story is only one of the Max Ford thrillers this author has penned and, although the story stands alone as a readable thriller, there is a connection to earlier tales so having read those would be a definite advantage. Fernandez writes with clarity and with evidently well-done research as she fleshes out a story that has scientific undertones. Her ability to clearly elucidate scientific research to her readers is definitely a winning hallmark of this author’s style. The plot twists and turns with surprising regularity as the story races to its final conclusion, yet still leaves the door open for the next book in the Max Ford series. I enjoyed this read and would definitely put Sally Fernandez high on my list of excellent thriller writers.

The Beekeeper's Secret: A Max Ford Thriller is a sleuth mystery novel written by Sally Fernandez. Max was stunned when her college friend, Allison, called with the news that her husband, Senator Jeffrey Lance, was dead. Allison just didn’t believe that Jeff had died of a heart attack as had been reported to her by a representative of the State Department. Lance had been discovered unconscious in a hotel room in Brazil, and his body was being flown home where an autopsy was scheduled. Allison was horrified at the thought of an autopsy, even as she couldn’t accept the prognosis of heart failure. Max’s background in the CIA made her Allison’s first resort for assistance in trying to find out just what had happened to her husband. Why was he in Brazil? Why had he been spending so much time in Washington, DC before he left on that last trip? What had really happened?

Sally Fernandez’s sleuth mystery novel, The Beekeeper's Secret: A Max Ford Thriller, is an intriguing blend of environmental thriller and hard-boiled sleuth detective story. Max Ford is a grand throwback to the old school of hard-core detectives who toss back the hard liquor both to forget and to keep the gray cells actively considering the newest mystery to solve. Her sidekick, also a former spy, Sam, complements her perfectly, and watching as the two detectives untangle the mystery behind Senator Lance’s death is marvelous fun. I especially appreciated the major role that advances in alternative healing plays in this absorbing story. The Beekeeper's Secret: A Max Ford Thriller is most highly recommended.

In The Beekeeper’s Secret: A Max Ford Thriller by Sally Fernandez, the bodies continue to pile up and the question of how many explainable suicides connected to the medical profession exceed realistic acceptance. When Jeff Lance is added to the list of victims, Max Ford’s involvement serves a double purpose. Jeff was the husband of her good friend, Allison. Jeff also traveled to mysterious lands ostensibly to act as a courier for mysterious packages, his last being a cloak and dagger journey across the Mexican border where he delivers a seemingly innocent looking package to a group of beekeepers. And then Jeff disappears. As Max digs into the mystery, she unearths an incredible wealth of conspiracy that will not disappoint.

Don’t be fooled by the innocuous title. The Beekeeper’s Secret is a serious novel of intrigue and political crime. Pitting sister against brother in a fatal moral dance between the proverbial good and evil, Sally Fernandez pens a fast moving, thought-provoking story of disturbing information that could easily morph into the next conspiracy theory; this time related to Big Pharma and the possibility of proven holistic medical treatments. As an individual living with an incurable autoimmune disease, I easily relate to the conflict of holistic medicine versus Big Pharma. Fernandez’s use of timely detail keeps this novel contemporary and relatable to the current generation, yet entices the veteran reader of criminal espionage. The Beekeeper's Secret races to the top of my favorite books and this reviewer is anxious to read more from Sally Fernandez.
