Detective Max Larkin has been given a choice; does he join the FBI or take the position as captain at the local police department? After thinking all weekend, on Monday he hops into his Firebird to head to work and discovers his partner Jesse Fairlane is missing. Since they have been working hard on an intense human trafficking case, the team is convinced Jesse’s kidnapping is just another piece of the puzzle. As Max and Special Agent Michaels continue to hunt for Jesse in time to save her life, odd pieces that don’t fit into the puzzle are reeling in the backs of their minds, like the rose left at the scene. Is this really a human tracking ring, or could it be something else? The mystery continues as the clues leave more questions than answers and Max fights to find the truth. Where is Jesse?
Todd M. Thiede absolutely gets 5 out of 5 stars for The Blood of a Rose. He began the very first chapter in a way that left me gasping and needing to know more. It gives just a taste of what’s to come with small details that I did not grasp as clues to start piecing this thriller together. I found myself turning pages faster and faster, the story pulling me in from start to finish. The “figure” behind the chaos was a mastermind and each time I thought I was onto Todd M. Thiede and what he wrote next, he proved me wrong time and again. He wrote in such a realistic way, he left my head turning, filled with thoughts like, “What if this actually happens?” The Blood of a Rose gets a standing ovation from me. I want to see where Max Larkin goes from here.
