Author Biography

Jeremy Falcon has worked as university professor and on a loading dock, as a classical musician and as a cab driver, as a writer and as a window washer. He is a teacher who has learned more from his students than they have from him, and a student who knows less the more he studies. He travels widely, searching for places where there are no tourists. This has gotten him into trouble, occasionally, but so far he has managed to talk his way out of the predicaments his lack of common sense has gotten him into. He intends to continue traveling as long as his legs will carry him, and to keep writing as long as he can still see the words on the page.
The second volume of The Harmony of the Spheres, The Sword and the Pen, will be published in spring, 2016.

The Book of Wisdom is the first book in the Harmony of the Spheres series by Jeremy Falcon. If this book is any indicator, there is the very real possibility of a great series! Spanning many millennia and multiple characters, this is an epic quest of an adventure...but rather than fantasy, it's really a fictionalization of history which is very cool!

Although I related more to Douglas Crenshaw than Jacob, both characters were compelling and had their own drives and motivations. As a former marching band kid, I really appreciated all of the musical references...and as a nerd in general, the historical references made me feel very self-important and smart. The timing and pace of the book was interesting. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it at first, and it did originally come off as jarring. However, as I kept reading and got used to the monumental shifts in time, I was able to get really sucked in by the story and enjoy myself.

Although the Book of Wisdom is a bit longer than I normally read, don't let that discourage you from giving it a try. Jeremy Falcon is very intelligent in his choices and the plot and history alone are sweeping and great fun to read. I recommend this book for all fiction fans...even the ones who couldn't tell Bach from Beethoven. It's about music, but there is so much more than that. The Harmony of the Spheres series looks like it's going to be an amazing ride and I can't wait to be a part of it.

Kirkus Reviews

A twisty thriller that proves to be a wily, if textually dense, adventure.

This novel is fast-paced, dynamic and exciting, filled with intrigue and danger as its characters risk everything to uncover ever-larger truths. There is romance, suspense, friendship and betrayal within its pages. There are breathtaking panoramas of now-vanished landscapes brought magically back to life with the author's expertly-crafted prose. There is humor, irony and pithy observations about the human experience. The action scenes sparkle with the intensity of a roaring fire in the darkness. The characters are intrepid and interesting with strong motivations for doing what they do. The chapters end in suspense, leaving readers wanting to know more! And all throughout, the author seasons his writings with insightful observations about the evolution of music and its role in shaping civilization itself.

Fans of Dan Brown should not miss reading this daring work by a first-time novelist. What a fantastic read!

Music has the power to move us, but what if its power was such as to move nations, crush enemies and bind lovers? The Book of Wisdom explores the fascinating theorem that all things are tuned to their own harmonics. In the historically accurate setting of 1st century Jerusalem and 21st century Chicago, Falcon follows the paths of two scholarly worlds in a tale of magic. That of 1st century Jerusalem searches to employ the mystery of the harmonics that unite us all through music. The other seeks to unravel that mystery through the relics and clues that remain. In both worlds, there are heroes and villains struggling to gain the knowledge of the universe. The tale is told with intelligent wit, colorful characters and a scientific sense that makes you believe that this theory might just be plausible. A definite page turner!

I REALLY enjoyed reading this book. Not only was the story exciting, but I felt like the characters became friends. I also learned a lot about music development, code writing, and how people lived in the ancient Middle East. I'm looking forward to the next installment so I can see what happens next. I can't wait for this adventure to continue.
