The Bridge to Magic (The Sundered Web) is a work of fiction in the fantasy, adventure, and action subgenres, and it forms the first novel in the series. It is suitable for both young adult and adult reading audiences and was penned by Alex Thornbury. In this enchanting and exciting fantasy work, we’re introduced to a world where the apocalyptic nightmare of the Blight has engulfed the lands, bringing destruction to all. In the last city standing, the orphaned Elika hopes for the return of magic to end the Blight before it destroys her too. The result is a thrilling dark fantasy adventure in which Elika’s incredible powers come to light.

Alex Thornbury has crafted a sensational work of fantasy fiction that will captivate YA readers and adult fantasy fans alike. The novel walks the delicate line between the action-packed and highly cinematic description of the events as they unfold, and a more complex underpinning. I especially enjoyed the concept and introduction to the Deadlands, a place that is every bit as chilling and thrilling as it sounds, and if there’s one thing I can guarantee about this novel it’s that it felt complete, and Thornbury delivered on every promise from the outset. This world has so much more potential that I can hardly wait to see what’s coming in the next novel. The Bridge to Magic (The Sundered Web) is an accomplished tale with a fascinating core concept, great character development, and gorgeous, spine-tingling dark fantasy styling. A series not to be missed.
