The Deadly Pieces: An Adam Frankenstein U.S. Marshal Novel by Sheila English is a horror story with plenty of action to keep you hooked until the end. Adam Frankenstein left the League of Supernatural Hunters after Mary Shelley died, and he had no intention of rejoining them. However, when they approached him with a contract and a new case, Adam could not resist. Bodies of homeless people with missing parts had been turning up, and Adam found the culprit: a mad scientist who was a part of the League. Adam chased the culprit to Houston, where his world collided with U.S. Marshal Rebecca Hughes, who was already working on a tough case. She was chasing a drug cartel, and Adam was chasing the mad scientist. What did their cases have in common? Why did their different worlds collide?

Adam Frankenstein was larger than life, complex, and well-written. I loved his introduction and development even more. Adam was a little jaded and tired of life but was powering through it. I wouldn't call The Deadly Pieces exactly a horror novel, but it gave me a few adrenaline-inducing, heart-pumping moments. Author Sheila English took the classic Frankenstein and made him into this relatable character with complex emotions that will resonate with readers. While Adam was chasing after a horrible scientist, Rebecca was facing an equally challenging task. They made the best of the worst situations, and I enjoyed every second of their interactions. They were like Ying and Yang. The story's pace was fast and introduced new twists without missing a beat. At the same time, Sheila created vivid pictures with her descriptive narrative that transported me right next to Adam. To say I loved it would be an understatement!
