Oscar T. Davidson is an ADHD smart-mouth who thinks he runs Blanton Elementary School. His hare-brained ideas are insane. He’s always getting into trouble and is likely to get suspended. Timothy Small is a new student with the surprising ability to control the minds of others. His miraculous talent is likely to get anybody, even Oscar, out of hot water. When these two get together, the laughs just don’t stop. And when Timothy grants Oscar the ability to go back in time, literally anything can happen, again and again. The Discombobulated Shenanigans of Oscar and Timothy by John Hope records the adventures of this pair as they spend the night getting into more trouble than even kids with superpowers can escape.

The Discombobulated Shenanigans of Oscar and Timothy by John Hope is action-packed hilarity from cover to cover. Oscar’s quick wit and crazy imaginings are side-splitting as he makes up a presentation on Benjamin Franklin based on no facts whatsoever. I could never guess what Oscar was going to say next. The dialogue alone is well worth the time invested in reading. This book is packed with boy humor, from running through town in nothing but underwear to fart competitions, sword-fighting with lipstick to crashing a Goth party in second-hand dresses; there’s not a page in here that won’t bring a smile. On the more serious side, Oscar learns that it’s better to think before you say something that might hurt someone’s feelings. Perfect for middle-grade boys who love superpowers and guy antics.
